Some 90 farmers coming from different parts of Spain Caravaca have met to discuss the current situation and future challenges of organic farming in the state for a seminar organized by COAG.
The seminar "Partnerships for sustainable local agro-ecological" has been opened in the morning by the Councillor for Environment, Antonia M ª Álvarez, accompanied by Agriculture Secretary COAG-IR in Murcia, Pedro Garcia, and those responsible for Farming COAG, Andoni García and José Manuel Benítez.
During this seminar the participants will exchange experiences and views about organic farming and address the potential of the Region of Murcia for the development of organic fruit.
The program includes various activities like visiting the Center for Agroecology and Environment, Bullas (CEAMA) and various papers on the limitations of the health regulations for small-scale production, participatory guarantee systems (PGS) and organic farming cereal and fruit, among other topics.
The conclusions of this seminar will be presented tomorrow, Friday, at 14.00 in a ceremony presided by the director general of Livestock and Fisheries, Adolfo Falagan.
