Municipal Library program activities to promote reading this summer (16/07/2009)

The Department of Culture, through the Municipal Library has scheduled a series of activities for the coming days to promote the hobby of reading among young audiences and adults.

The first will be an exhibition entitled "Facsimile, rare and curious", which displays collections of coins, stamps, minerals, old postcards and other curiosities with facsimile editions of books, manuscripts and codices preserved in the Casa de la Cultura.

The exhibition will be held from July 20 to August 31 in the Library.

The campaign "this summer's books are going on holiday with you" will Caravaca on 20 July, coinciding with the weekly market.

This is an initiative launched by the newspaper La Opinión, in collaboration with the Directorate General for Books, Archives and Libraries, which consist of free delivery of books to pedestrians.

Another activity planned is a book signing by Luis Leante on 24th July from 17.30 in the cafeteria Company.

The Department of Culture and the library Endrino collaborate in this way with the newly founded Club of Reading of the Cross, composed by a group of local youths.

Caravaqueño writer will sign copies of his latest novel, "Red Moon."

Children also have their place in the summer program of the Municipal Library in the workshops "treasure box" of paper making and storytelling, to be held from 20 to 27 August.

Registration for participating in the workshops must be signed before Aug. 18 at the counter of the Library.
