Invest more than a million euros in upgrading the promenade of San Jerónimo (18/06/2009)

The president of the state company Aguas de la Cuenca del Segura (AcuaSegura) and the Segura basin (CHS), José Salvador Fuentes Zorita, and the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, Domingo Aranda, today launched the preparation of Rambla de San Jerónimo passing through Caravaca, to retrieve the urban stretch of this river, whose investment has amounted to 1,050,003.30 euros, once you have completed the second phase of the project.

La Rambla de San Jerónimo runs along the bottom and the mound where the castle of Vera Cruz and its old town, so it is visible from many parts of the city unique.

It also constitutes a barrier to urban growth boundary by the north and east of the city, which is a broad and deep ravine.

With this performance conditioning and channel margins, which has implemented AcuaSegura, has joined the boulevard within the urban fabric, in addition to rehabilitating an area that was degraded gradually.

The project included the redirection of the promenade along 1,200 meters of land through the motions required in addition to line the river banks and cliffs based on enabling the growth of vegetation, so that it remains a space avoiding further natural but uncontrolled erosion.

In a second stage, we performed a supplementary work, which has seen the creation of a pedestrian firm resistance to erosion by rain at the speck of the ravine, while the corresponding has been executed in the ditches and drains necessary areas, and proceeded to the revegetation of the slopes for the roots to hold these as possible and prevent the formation of gullies.

In addition, AcuaSegura proceeded to install a rustic wood side rail that defines the area for walking, being a security barrier between the walk and the slope of the ravine, about two meters high.

It also has installed a convenient ramp down the street straight from the runway Nuns, practicable for the disabled.

In this way, the ride parallel to the runway has become a continuation of the Nuns Street, where it has been opened to view the seashore, with a cast iron fence, and access to the ramp above, which has Built in solid wood looking its best environmental integration.

It has built a pontoon bridge crossing the pedestrian promenade for access to the promenade side of the avenue.

The soul is structural steel to make it more lightly, but is clad in wood, with what we have achieved a good aesthetic effect and also a better integration into the environment.

Likewise, the work has been completed with the creation of gardens in which plants are placed, trees with tree pits, and rustic benches and bins.

The works have been executed by the company Murcia Agricultural Irrigation, SL, while the consulting and technical assistance, including monitoring and control safety and health of the work, corresponded to the Southeast Laboratories Ltd. for an amount of 75,390.81 euros.

Budget allocation, 70% AcuaSegura funds under the Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is assigned, while the City of Caravaca de la Cruz provides the remaining 30%.
