The Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, Enrique Ujaldón, today announced the thirty-first edition of the Festival of Barranda crews, held in this village of Caravaca de la Cruz on Sunday 25 January.

Since 1979, coinciding with the Feast of the Candelaria, patron saint of Barranda, the last Sunday of January occurs Party Crews, a day that brings together pandas, rounds and music bands of the southeastern Spanish oral tradition.
The Feast of the crews, declared of Regional Tourist Interest since 1999, "is a festival of music that comes from people who takes up the tradition linked to popular folklore the seventeenth century," said Ujaldón.
The Festival of the crews has Study Session on Oral Tradition Culture, Folk Barranda the concerts and party crews.
The Workshops aim to be the theoretical support of the holidays with exhibitions, panel discussions and lectures, which this year revolve around the tradition of oral literature.
Barranda Folk Festival will feature performances of folk and Motilleja Round Balbardo on Friday 23 January, and La Banda del Pepo and Triquel on Saturday 24 January.
