The Segura basin finance the project in Caravaca Robinwood thanks to an agreement with the Directorate General Environment of the Autonomous Community of Murcia.
This is the outcome of the meeting held yesterday the mayor, Domingo Aranda, with the president and the secretary of the CHS, José Salvador Fuentes Zorita and José Cascales respectively.
"The balance of the meeting is very positive, and that the City has made a firm commitment to the Segura basin Robinwood project fund focused on hydrogeological and ecological recovery of river bed and banks of the River Quípar" stressed Sunday Aranda.
Robinwood is a project that also receives funding from the European Commission within the Interreg III C South Regional Framework Operations.
In addition to the Region of Murcia, this initiative is the participation of the European regions of Liguria (Italy), Brandenburg (Germany), Wales (United Kingdom) and Eastern Slovakia (Slovakia).
The project aims at socio-economic development of rural areas through sustainable forest hydrological management.
According to its slogan, aims to be "an opportunity for development and environmental improvement in rural areas."
Among its purposes are to stimulate territorial maintenance actions to reduce forest degradation, hydrogeological, promote the market of the timber industry (construction and furniture), and energy production from biomass, and new job opportunities in the forests, including "eco-tourism."
The recovery of the river Quípar is budgeted at 270.00 euros which will be dedicated to activities such as planting trees and native species and the creation of pedestrian areas and parking.
In relation to this initiative, the mayor pointed out that Caravaca Treatment Station and general collectors of the municipality have allowed in recent years have free discharge of river channels and Quípar Argos.
