The city passed a motion on the historical memory and the other on the status of implementation of investments in the city
The City of Caravaca de la Cruz adopted at the final plenary a motion to increase support for the extension in Caravaca de la Cruz of the National Open University (UNED), which is currently located in a building owned by the city Plaza del Hoyo.
The text, raised to plenary by the Municipal Citizens Group, it unanimously approved, including two amendments during the debate by local groups Socialist Party and Popular Party.
The Corporation showed its commitment to this educational service, which last academic year had 500 students from around the Northwest and populations neighboring provinces.
Among the points of agreement include the change of name to UNED Caravaca and establish a new cooperation agreement with the partner school of the Open University in Cartagena and the Autonomous Community to improve funding and resolve gaps so far in this regard.
The Councillor for Education, Esther Poveda, moved that the new agreement that the City will pursue "win in autonomy and power decision."
It also opens the possibility to study a possible relocation of the extension, with the proposal in the motion in former Jesuit college.
The center of the Open University in Cartagena has three extensions located in Lorca, Yecla and Caravaca de la Cruz, and hosts more than 6,000 students.
The educational institution offers twenty official university qualifications, the course of access to the University for over 25 years and numerous language courses.
On the other hand, also it was approved the motion submitted by the Municipal Group of Izquierda Unida on the recovery of historical memory, with the favorable votes of IU and councilors of the government team and the abstention of PP and C, s.
The text calls for the fulfillment of the Law 52/2007, providing for the withdrawal of symbols or commemorative mentions relevant to the Civil War and the repression of the dictatorship.
Finally, unanimously it approved the motion of the Municipal People's Party in a report indicating the status of implementation of the projects approved by the Session in December 2014, through a loan modification request.
The councilman who heads the Urban Planning and Works, Enrique Fuentes, advanced in the plenary session the state of each and every one of the actions and undertook to provide shortly a written report, as contained in point agreement text.
Thus, the Government team spokesman and head of Urban Planning said that an important part of that loan modification was not intended for investments themselves and elsewhere refers to projects which were undefined.
Other actions have been completed, except for the work of reform in City Square Garden and Mari Cruz 'Meni', which are in their final phase and will be completed in the coming days.
