The Feast of the crews gathers thousands in Barranda (31/01/2016)

The XXXVIII edition of The Feast of Barranda crews met on Sunday to thousands of people in the town caravaqueña.

The Minister of Culture and government spokesman, Noelia Arroyo, attended the celebration, declared of Cultural Interest and National Interest, to show the support of the regional government to this "festival, which contributes to keep alive a very important part of Popular Culture of the Region of Murcia ".

Since last Thursday, and like every year, the village of Barranda has hosted various cultural activities, among which the Days of culture of oral tradition, the market peasant traditions and various musical performances included in the 'Barranda Folk' festival.

The program concludes today with the Feast of the crews, in which eight groups in the region and four of Malaga and Albacete have music filled the streets of this population.

The day began with a Mass sung by the crew of Huebras (Albacete) and continued with a tribute to the writer and teacher Federico Martin Nebraska;

acts that Noelia Arroyo attended by the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, Jose Moreno, and the president of the Aguilanderos Barranda, Carlos Manuel Salcedo.

The Minister of Culture said that "the Feast of Barranda crews has become a national landmark and one of the most popular celebrations Murcia, causing him to achieve the declaration of National Tourist Interest".

Added to this is, he added, "the commitment made by the study and dissemination of folklore and traditions of the region through other activities, developed as a complement to the performances."
