The Basilica-Sanctuary of Vera Cruz de Caravaca host the February 22, 2016, feast of the Chair of Peter, presenting the blood relic of St. John Paul II that the Diocese of Krakow gave the parish of Savior.
On May 3, during the Pontifical Mass in the celebrations of the Vera Cruz, it was announced that the parish of El Salvador in Caravaca could receive a relic of the blood of John Paul II, at the request of the parish priest of Saint Thomas More Obertshausen (Germany), Norbert Hofmann, who already have a relic.
The Royal and Illustrious Brotherhood of the Blessed and Vera Cruz and the parish of El Salvador in Caravaca twinned with Catholic churches of St. Thomas More and Sacred Heart of Jesus of Obertshausen on 9 December 2012. That year, Norbert Hofmann visited Caravaca during the holidays, an experience that he repeated in 2014 with a group of 46 pilgrims.
Returning to Obertshausen received the news that he was awarded a blood relic of St. John Paul II by the Diocese of Krakow.
"As for the twinning are closer and more united as brothers, I decided to order a relic of the blood to Caravaca," said May 3 the German pastor.
The relic was presented to caravaqueño people on February 21 in the Mass presided by the Bishop of Cartagena in the sanctuary that once Pope John Paul II granted the Jubilee in perpetuity.
After holding a procession made up the parish of El Salvador where the shrine is placed in a portrait of the Holy Father with niche by the painter José Antonio Torregrosa, 'Torregar', a native of Ceuta.
The presentation of the relic of St. John Paul II will be held within the events of the Preparatory Year of Jubilee 2017, a year that will begin with a celebration to be held on January 10, 2016 presided over by Mons. Antonio Maria Rouco Varela.
