Apcom launches the 'fundraisers' project, funded with 17,500 euros for 'La Caixa' (27/11/2015)

The Association of Families with Mental Retardation Northwest (Apcom) and the Foundation 'La Caixa' have signed a collaboration agreement that allows the implementation of the project "fundraisers" funded with 17,520 euros by that entity.

The Mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, Jose Moreno, and the councilman of Social Services, Maria Jose Soria, accompanied at the signing of this agreement Apcom president, Antonio Castillo, and the directors of the two offices of 'La Caixa' in the town, Pedro Moreno and Francisco Gabarrón.

"We will work on a campaign to raise funds with which to address funding problems of the association for educational and entertainment programs. Further help other people to be supportive, giving greater visibility to the organization and users with intellectual disabilities as capable, "said the president of Apcom, Antonio Castillo.

Apcom presented the 'fundraisers' project to the call for aid for the social and labor insertion of the Foundation 'La Caixa'.

Its purpose is to extend the powers of eight people with intellectual disabilities and that four of them get a job helping the association itself.

The program will include training part, also open to four volunteers to help with the project, and a practical part in actual working environments, with the support of the figure of the job coach.

The Apcom association began operating in the mid-eighties, in order to promote services that give continuity to the training of people with intellectual disabilities to the vacuum that existed after the school years.

He began work as an occupational center, later to incorporate new centers and services, public and private.

Apcom works to complete all possible services needed by people with intellectual disabilities, giving them support during their life cycle.

The association belongs to Full Inclusion (formerly FEAPS), the movement of the major intellectual disabilities in Spain.
