The Confederation of Forest Owners of Spain (COSE) held its 2015 General Assembly in the city of Caravaca de la Cruz, on October 23.
At the opening of the meeting accompanied Francisco Carreño, President of COSE, the Mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, Jose Moreno, and Juan de Dios Cabezas, Deputy Director General for Rural Development and Forestry of the Autonomous Community of Murcia.
"Two thirds of the Spanish forest area is in private hands, and you are the guarantors that its management is responsibly, so that society can enjoy and benefit from the forest and its exploitation," he stressed the councilor of the municipality.
Juan de Dios Cabezas, meanwhile, stressed in his speech that "forest owners are aware of the social work you carry out."
The highest authority of the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment of the Region of Murcia encouraged foresters gathered in Caravaca to "never renounce to your property, you have a role in society, which is to be the managers of heritage and values, and its conservation. "

Francisco Carreño, President of COSE and PROFOMUR (Forest Owners Association of Murcia) stressed that Caravaca de la Cruz has always been open to work with owners and held that the term "forest" is already included and accompany the of "rural development" on DG.

The forester, an asset to society
During the Assembly review of the activities carried out this year both technical meetings as consolidating its institutional dialogue with the government to bring the reality of the mountains to regulatory and sectoral plans, formulating proposals made to improve forest situation and strengthening with other entities in the sector.

The Assembly concluded with setting priorities and strategic lines for 2016, as well as new initiatives of interest to forest owners, as an innovative project of cooperation on economic and environmental indicators forestry to provide quality statistical information.
Again, COSE reaffirmed its goal of working for the enhancement of products mount to obtain the necessary profitability that will enable the maintenance of forests, recognizing the work of the forester as an asset which society can not losing welfare provided by their mountains, thanks to the efforts they make.
