"LandsCare": implementation of a geo payment system for environmental services for forest owners "is the title of a conference to be held tomorrow, Thursday, from 20.00, in the sacristy of the former Jesuit.
It is a project initiated by the Confederation of Forest Owners of Spain (Sew) in collaboration with the HOA Forestares of Murcia (Profomur), with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.
As part of this conference, open to the public, will be held a workshop on the app 'LandsCare' as an initiative that contributes to rural development and conservation of forest land through a system of payment for environmental services (PES ), which captures the natural values ​​as micropayments agroforestry owners who guard these values.
The 'LandsCare' system, already in operation, provides, in the form of free downloadable app for iPhone and Android, a guide to interpretation of the territory to the user.
This platform is an opportunity to show the values ​​that are home to the mountains and the work required for maintenance.
The user has the opportunity to support this work through voluntary purchase of virtual label to get discounts at nearby stores.
The revenues are received directly by the owner.
The day will begin with a brief statement of the president of Profomur and Sew, Francisco Carreño, on the "Mediterranean forest: multiple roles, do Multiple income?".
Then the professor at the King Juan Carlos University, Pablo Martínez Anguita, discuss payments for environmental services as an aid to the conservation of Mediterranean forest.
Finally, the technical Piquer Bethlehem Zubieta explained the "LandsCare" agroforestry platform for owners and held a workshop of the same.
After the end of the day, a tasting of wines from the region of Murcia will be offered.
