The City of Caravaca de la Cruz has agreed at the first ordinary plenary session of the legislature that the Social Center Barranda bearing the name of Pepe Salcedo and the Incarnation has a street dedicated to Dr. Michael J. Walker.
The Municipal Socialist Party won the backing of all parties in the motion requesting that the Social Center Barranda Pepe Salcedo, Councilman City of Caravaca, which, among other duties, headed the Department of Pedanías be called with great involvement in many projects, such as support of the Feast of the crews.
Pepe Salcedo was born into a modest family in Barranda, he played the teaching profession in the public school Cervantes, where he held management responsibilities, was elected director of the center, a position he almost never practiced by the fatal accident that cost him life.
A proposal of the Municipal People's Party and with the favorable vote of all the parties represented in the table, it was agreed that a street in the village of La Encarnación be named anthropologist and professor at the University of Murcia Michael J. Walker, who is leading the excavation campaigns of the site of the Black Cave Quípar River Strait in the past 26 years.
Thus it is recognizing his work for the enhancement of this important site of the Incarnation and its dissemination thereof among scientists and scholars from leading universities worldwide, making it an international reference for the study of human evolution .
