The Music Museum hosts an exhibition with over one hundred instruments of slavery in America (18/11/2013)

The Museum welcomes Barranda Ethnic Music from today until March 31 the exhibition "Musical instruments of slavery in America ', which showcases more than a hundred pieces created between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries by African slaves to America and displaced from the collection of Charles White Fadol.

The mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, Domingo Aranda, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, and the Minister of Culture of Costa Rica, Manuel Obregon, visited the sample consisting of 121 original musical instruments from Africa and Latin .

The abolition of slavery in the nineteenth century, were destroyed all documents and personal information that referred to the place of origin of each African slave.

The exhibition compares American and African musical instruments and the evolution of the parts manufactured by slaves instruments and musical currents.

In addition, the exhibition includes the documentary "The language you cry 'Alvaro Toepke and other documentary African American musical expression of Brazil, Uruguay, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, etc..

The exhibition is accompanied by a supporting program with live Afro-American music, reproductions of antique prints related to American slavery, workshops making musical instruments, conferences, limes balie and African percussion instruments.
