The Government of Spain invests 12 million euros Caravaca through State Funds, 2009 and 2010
The government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, along with the mayor of Caravaca, Domingo Aranda Muñoz, and the head of the Association of families of children with intellectual disabilities in the North County, APCOM, Antonio Castillo , this morning visited the expansion work of the Home for Mentally Handicapped.
González Tovar stated that "the Government of Spain for social policies are a cornerstone by which we will continue fighting no matter what."
In this sense, the delegate of the Government has indicated that the works are being funded entirely by the Government of Spain through the State Fund 2010, represent an investment of 400,000 euros and are employing 9 workers.
This extension of the residence for mentally handicapped permit the expansion of services provided in Caravaca APCOM aimed at children with intellectual disabilities who have special educational needs and require ongoing support in their education.
Also this partnership also serves the group of people with intellectual disability in older adults with problems within the family.
The new units are located on municipally owned land, street Sanjuanistas Knights.
The Government delegate was particularly impressed that this partnership work is taking place at the Center for Advanced Early Warning (CDIAT AVANZA) which caters for 50 children from 0 to 16 years.
Among other services, are offered rehabilitation, speech therapy, physical therapy, social skills enhancement and reinforcement for special educational needs of children who require it.
The Central Government committed to the accessibility
Tovar Gonzalez stressed that the Government of Spain is extremely committed to the groups who have difficulties with accessibility.
In this regard, Caravaca, in addition to this project in 2010, State Fund is funding two projects for the disabled such as improving access to sports facilities in the municipality and the installation of an elevator in the Municipal Nursery School San Francisco, with a combined investment of 200,000 euros.
