The Municipal People's Party in the city of Caravaca has filed a motion to reject the veto of the National Government to the proposition of law on the abolition of the pension freeze.
The text, which will be discussed at the next plenary, argues that "the freeze imposed unilaterally by the Zapatero government will seriously erode the purchasing power of 5 million pensioners who will see their right to private revaluation of its pensions. "
The National Government has recently vetoed a bill presented by the Popular Party in Congress to prevent freezing of contributory pensions in 2011.
The freeze aims to save at the expense of pensioners 1,400 million euros in social security system and 130 million additional.
In line with this issue, Councilman popular Salvador Gómez said that the Popular Party of Caravaca is to add to the criticism against the freezing of pensions because "we have a government that the effects of the economic crisis cut social rights the weakest and most disadvantaged, such as the unemployed, mothers and pensioners. "
"This freeze is unjustified, as Zapatero's government has been insisting on the Social Security surplus," he stressed Salvador Gomez.
