The City Council and the Autonomous Region have initiated a project to remodel the Market Square, an area of 700 square meters located in the heart of the city.
The works have a deadline of three months, as councilors yesterday ahead of Commerce and Finance, Mercedes Velez and Salvador Gómez respectively, during a visit to the work that is running the company caravaqueña Framasa.
The work is budgeted at 250,000 euros, amount contributed by the municipality and the regional government to fifty percent.
The project envisages the creation of a seat cover and adapted to hold social and cultural activities during any time of year, but also maintains the commercial nature of the place with sales to small businesses, and spaces for tourist services and other services .
"In order to adapt this space to changing times and needs are replaced by sea walls and glazed areas to create an airy interior space, plus we plan to install Wi-Fi for free Internet connection," he pointed out the Councilman Salvador Gomez, who also noted that the ultimate goal is that people return to enjoy this space.
Moreover, as reported by the mayor of Commerce, "to carry out this action we have the cooperation of the Merchants' Association, who provide ideas on the content of this space, which is to restore daily activity, adapting to modern times. "
