The International Geological Conference Geoeventos Geological Heritage, which houses one hundred and fifty participants, will be opened today, March 15, Caravaca de la Cruz, where he will continue until 18 September.
The meeting has, among other objectives, to bring geology to the public as one of the keys to understanding and caring for the planet.
Spatially directed to the society of Murcia, are scheduled talks on "Contingency man out of Africa" and "Geological hazards in the Betic" and an exhibition on fossils of the region.
Also, for the last day geological excursions were organized in Murcia, Teruel and Almeria.
This activity has been promoted by the Spanish National Committee of Geological Correlation Program (IGCP), Geological Society of Spain and the European Association for the Conservation of Geological Heritage and sponsored by the City of Caravaca.
Among its proponents is Professor at the University of Murcia, Francisco Guillén.
