The Town Hall of Caravaca de la Cruz gave the green light to a specific municipal ordinance for the conservation and sustainable use of the Fuentes del Marqués, with which the Consistory seeks to combine the right of citizens to enjoy the site with the duty of the local administration to ensure the preservation of this natural space owned by the municipality.
The ordinance presented by the government team establishes a series of general objectives aimed at the management and use of natural resources, while providing for a zoning of the space, depending on the uses that may be accommodated.
It reflects, therefore, a series of guidelines for a more rational and respectful management, defining the infractions and typifying their corresponding sanctions, as explained during the plenary session by the Town Planning and Environment councilor, Enrique Fuentes.
This regulation seeks to avoid alterations or degradations of this place of exceptional richness in terms of fauna and flora, especially on weekends, when it suffers from overcrowding due to the high number of visitors that travel to it, thus guaranteeing its legacy to future generations.
The ordinance was approved with the favorable votes of the councilors of the Socialist Party, the Popular Party and the United Left and the abstention of Citizens.
On the other hand, the Plenary approved the joint motion of the different political groups for the creation of an Animal Welfare Bureau, a proposal that was supported by the representatives of the animal protection association 'Econciencia', with its presence in the Plenary Hall .
At this point, the Councilor for Health, María José Soria, reiterated the commitment to support the construction and implementation of a joint shelter for abandoned animals, after reaching a regional consensus between the different consistories.
Another point approved unanimously was the rectification of the Catalog of Public Roads, which includes 23.6 new kilometers that were not reflected in the Municipal Inventory and which correspond to the road from 'La Junquera' to 'Los Royos', the road from Topares to 'La Junquera', the road from El Moralejo to Caravaca and from El Moralejo to La Junquera.
The intention of the Department of Urban Planning is to continue updating the Municipal Inventory, as they advance the cartographic works that are being carried out by municipal technicians.
In addition to a battery of requests and questions pending from the previous session and raised to the Plenary by the different political groups of the opposition, the Plenary also debated and unanimously approved the motion presented by the Popular Municipal Group to urge the Camino de la Cruz to restore, through the fiscal incentives granted to the Jubilee Year 2017, the image of 'La Dolorosa', from the parish of El Salvador.
This motion went ahead with an amendment of addition of the Municipal Socialist Group for the inclusion of the statures of San Juan de Letrán and the Reclining Christ.
