Guided tours, open doors and a piano recital to commemorate the "International Museum Day" (12/05/2017)

The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz, through its councils of Tourism and Culture, joins the commemoration of the International Day of Museums, with a series of activities open to all citizens.

The activities begin tomorrow, Saturday May 13 at 11:00 am, with a guided tour of the quarries and Roman temples of the Cerro de la Ermita, in the caravaqueña district of La Encarnación, in charge of the municipal archaeologist and director of the Museum Archaeological 'La Soledad', Francisco Brotons.

In La Encarnación deposit is one of the best examples of the whole national territory of the processes of cultural contact between Romans and Iberians.

It is one of the few pre-Roman Spanish sanctuaries that allows an in-depth analysis of the transformations of beliefs, rituals and cult images after the arrival of the Romans to the Peninsula at the end of the third century BC , In addition, remains of the temples that the Romans built on the old Iberian sanctuary, whose hard walls were finally incorporated to the structure of the hermitage of the Incarnation.

The network of museums in Caravaca de la Cruz will hold open days on Thursday, May 18, and Saturday, May 20.

Within the program of the 'International Days of Museums', there is also the piano recital by the caravaqueño Arturo Abellán, who at his young age has already offered a long list of concerts in Spanish venues such as the Palau de la Música de Valencia The Royal Casino of Murcia and in other countries such as Austria, Italy and Germany and has been awarded more than 10 prizes in prestigious competitions of piano nationally and internationally.

The concert will be based on the Archaeological Museum 'La Soledad' and will be held on Friday, May 19, at 9:00 p.m.
