The municipality of Ojós this morning hosted the act of founding the Rural Development Network of the Region of Murcia, with the meeting of representatives of four local action groups operating in our Community: José Moreno, Mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz And President of Integral, Society for Rural Development;

Antonio Jesús García, Mayor of Fuente Alamo and President of the Association for Rural Development Campoder;

Juana Guardiola, Mayor of Jumilla and President of the Association for the Regional Development of the Northeast Region of Murcia;

And Pablo Melgarejo, Mayor of Ojós and President of the Association for Integrated Rural Development of the Municipalities of Vega del Segura.

The main objective of this network is to promote and promote projects related to the local and rural development of the territories associated with the four founding local action groups.

This will benefit the 450,000 inhabitants of more than 35 municipalities in the Region of Murcia.

In addition, it aims to improve the efficiency in the management and coordination of the local action groups that compose it, as well as to carry out projects of cooperation to promote the use of the endogenous resources of the territory under criteria of sustainability.

All this applying the Leader methodology, based on an ascending approach whose foundation is to make protagonists of its own development to the inhabitants of a territory.

An eminently participative work methodology that works in the rural environment of the Region of Murcia, through the local action groups since the early 90's, and whose success is extending it to other areas, public and private, of Management and development.

The new network begins its journey at a crucial moment, as we are at the beginning of the implementation of the European rural development programming for the period 2014-2020, so the first steps will be aimed at promoting collaboration agreements with the Public Administration Regional and national levels, as well as other public and private entities that can contribute to the development of a rural environment that has an immense potential waiting to be exploited.

In the founding act, the statutes have been approved, the ADRI Vega del Segura group has been designated as the corporate headquarters and a Board of Directors has been appointed, presided over by Mr. José Moreno, President of Integral and Mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, who will hold The legal representation of the Network during its first two years of operation.
