The City Council of Caravaca demands the creation of the ICU and the extension of beds in the Comarcal Hospital of the Northwest (30/01/2017)

From February 16, Caravaca will count the 24 hours with Primary Care Emergency Service (SUAP)

The mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Moreno, accompanied by the Councilor for Health, María José Soria, has held a meeting with the Minister of Health of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Encarna Guillén, to address the main needs in Sanitary matter of the municipality of Caravaca.

Among the issues addressed, from the Consistory Caravaqueño has demanded the implementation of an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the Northwest Comarcal Hospital and the need to contemplate and prioritize this investment in regional budgets, since Is a permanent claim both of the municipalities and neighbors of Caravaca, Cehegín, Moratalla, Bullas and Calasparra.

On the other hand, the mayor has requested the urgent extension of the number of beds for income in the hospital, in order to avoid specific situations of collapse and thus improve the attention to users of public health.

In addition, the Minister of Health has informed that, shortly, once the bidding process that is currently underway is completed, the Comarcal Hospital will be provided with a new scanner or TAC, which will replace the current one because it is obsolete.

The Councilor for Health in the City of Caravaca, María José Soria, who thanked the enlargement of the SUAP Caravaca, has advanced that soon another meeting will be held with the regional head of the area of ​​Health to give a detailed transfer of the needs and Citizens' demands on health.

After the meeting with the mayor, representatives of the regional and local administration have moved to the Primary Care Emergency Service (SUAP) of the Health Area IV-Northwest, which will offer health care for 24 hours from next February 16 up to date.

With this measure, which represents an increase of two more professionals in the SUAP staff: a doctor and a nurse, the SUAP will be equipped with five medical personnel, five nurses and four guards.

Thus, it can offer attention on working days, in the morning, that is, between 08:00 and 15:00 hours, to attend notices at home and public.

From 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the following day, you will attend out-of-hospital emergency services to the SUAP facilities.

On sundays and public holidays, SUAP will have, as before, a doctor and a nurse who will offer health care.

Guillén explained that "the objective is to guarantee the continuity of the service during the 24 hours and watch over the quality of care received by the citizens of the Region."

In addition, Guillén said, "it will improve the operation of the Health Center in the morning, as health professionals will not have to be mobilized in the face of an external emergency, which can be addressed by the SUAP team."

The SUAP of Caravaca, according to data from the Emergency Management and Sanitary Emergencies of the Region of Murcia, served during the past year more than 35,000 assists.

Of these, 30,000 were in the SUAP, 2,000 at home and on public roads, and more than 3,000 scheduled nursing treatments.

Its scope of action is the urgent attention to the population belonging to the Basic Health Areas of Caravaca and Caravaca-Barranda.
