The Civil Guard uncovers a criminal plot related to half a hundred scams in the sale of airline tickets (24/01/2017)

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed the operation 'FLYBY', an investigation aimed at clarifying alleged scams committed, allegedly, by the owners of a travel agency and parcel service, located in the town of Caravaca de la Cruz, which Have been arrested as alleged perpetrators of continuing felony crime.

So far, half a hundred scams have been clarified in the sale of air tickets, whose value would be around 50,000 euros, but it is not ruled out that there are more victims.

The investigation began earlier this month when, in the Civil Guard barracks of Caravaca de la Cruz and Jumilla, numerous complaints were filed regarding alleged scams in the sale of plane tickets to South American countries.

The Civil Guard found that following these criminal practices was a travel agency and parcel shipping, based in Caravaca de la Cruz, on which the investigation was initiated.

The surveys carried out around this company showed that the merchant had established other points of sale of tickets, through telephone booths located in Murcia, Jumilla, Alcantarilla, Archena and Cartagena where, allegedly, other quantities of tickets had been sold Plane fraudulently.

Mass offer of air tickets at low prices

The Benemérita has determined that those now detained offered low-priced air tickets to South American countries, which attracted many clients, mainly foreign citizens residing in Murcia, some of which and on the occasion of the Christmas holidays Bought the tickets to travel to their countries of origin, mostly flights to Bolivia, Ecuador or Colombia.

At the time of embarkation it was when the victims knew that their tickets either did not exist or had been canceled prior to the flights, so they were unable to leave Spain or return from their countries of origin because they lacked a valid passage Or economic means to acquire a new one.

The result of the investigation was brought to the attention of the judicial authority who ordered an order of entry and registration at the headquarters of the said mercantile in Caravaca de la Cruz.

Last Tuesday, the 18th, specialists in the Civil Guard Judicial Police inspected the establishment where seized mercantile documentation and computer equipment were seized, all related to the crimes investigated.

Simultaneously, two men and a woman, 44 and 29 years old, of Bolivian nationality, who were residents of Caravaca de la Cruz and with police records for crimes of the same nature as alleged perpetrators of a continuing crime of fraud, were detained.

So far, the development of the 'FLYBY' operation has made it possible to clarify half a hundred frauds consisting of the fraudulent sale of deceitful plane tickets.

It is presumed that with these criminal practices, those now detained could have fraudulently obtained about 50,000 euros.

The investigation remains open as it is not ruled out that there are other victims.

The arrested and the investigations have been made available to the Court of Instruction number 3 of Caravaca de la Cruz (Murcia).
