Agriculture invests more than 1.3 million euros of EU aid for rural development in Caravaca de la Cruz between 2007 and 2015 (02/08/2016)

The funding comes from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), which contributes 75 percent of the amount

The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment, through the Directorate General of Rural Development and Forestry, allocated a total of 1,386,118 euros to various rural development projects carried out in the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz, during the 2007-2015 period.

Of these, 951,785 euros were invested in projects promoted by the local council, and the rest, 434,333 euros in initiatives developed by private developers.

Specifically, during the past eight years, the City of Caravaca de la Cruz carried out six projects under mostly helpline conservation and upgrading of rural heritage.

The work focused on the financial recovery of the Roman castles of Cerro de las Fuentes and Cabezuela Archivel Barranda;

preventive conservation, interpretation and dissemination of the archaeological site of the Mills;

conducting quality maps of the historic city center of Caravaca de la Cruz;

the rehabilitation of a historic building and its transformation into a house museum on the Wine Horses;

and signaling the cultural heritage of the municipality.

In addition, the consistory caravaqueño developed a project included in the line of support for promotion of tourism.

It is recording a documentary that, through the journey of a pilgrim from Roncesvalles to Caravaca, shows the way of Vera Cruz.

On the other hand, partially eight private initiatives, carried out by four promoters of the municipality, which represented a total investment of 2,700,000 euros, of which 434,333 euros were subsidized were funded.

Private actions were included in various helplines as diversification into non-agricultural activities, creation and development of micro and promotion of tourism.

Thus, a treatment plant plant residues for biomass production, a hall of celebrations and artisan center Las Delicias del Horno were built, and expanded and improved craft brewery Mill River and various associated projects.

All projects were managed by the group of Integral local action, Society for Rural Development, which was responsible for projects of rural territories within the region of Northwest districts high Lorca, Rio Mula and Espuña during the period effective Rural Development Program.

Funding for the various actions comes from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), which contributes 75 percent of the amount of aid granted.

The rest is financed equally by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment and the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment.
