Lorca accompanies caravaqueños on the day of Vera Cruz]

"Caravaqueños, have a very important job to do: witness the greatness of being children of God, builders of a new world."

With these words the Bishop of Cartagena, Mons. José Manuel Lorca Planes, addressed the caravaqueños who came this morning to the Pontifical Mass in honor of the Blessed and Vera Cruz, patron of the city and around which held these days the festivities.

On the night of yesterday, May 2, the Vera Cruz, accompanied in procession by Moors and Christians, leaving his Basilica-Sanctuary down to the city that the custody and worship during the days when caravaqueños celebrate the holidays in his honor.

After the procession last night, the Vera Cruz was collected in the parish of El Salvador, where this morning has taken place Pontifical Mass.

On the day when the Church celebrates the feast of the Apparition of Vera Cruz, found by St. Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine, in Jerusalem, the city of Caravaca also celebrates the miraculous appearance of its patron saint, who according to legend had place in 1231.

On the big day of the festival of Caravaca, Mons. Lorca caravaqueños referred to as "hosts of hope" and stressed that the sign of the Cross is always a sign of hope.

"This sign is able to save, not the stuff that is done, but by our obedience to Christ."

Caravaca, prepared this year for the next Jubilee, which will take place in 2017, will continue to hold until May 5 fiestas in honor of Vera Cruz.

This afternoon, at 20: 30 hours, will be the Cross Bath and Blessing of the Waters in the Temple, the ritual that gives rise to these parties declared, since 2004, of International Tourist Interest.
