On April 4 it was approved in Caravaca full City Council and with the support of all political forces, the PP initiative of developing a Strategy for Sustainable Urban Development Integrated (EDUSI).

The cities are constantly growing and evolving, mixing multiple variables.
environmental, social, economic or cultural aspects are interrelated and determine the success or failure of the development of our cities.
It is therefore necessary that the actions related to the physical renewal combined with measures to promote economic development, education, social inclusion or environmental protection.
Cities are alive and complex organisms and it is very likely that by 2050, 80% of the population live in urban areas.
Most problems manifest themselves in cities, and therefore the solution to these problems is in them.
Since the European Commission has given priority to the concept of Integral Sustainable Urban Development and for its ability to promote the development of territories from a sustainable and balanced perspective.
Moreover, cities are set up in this new period as a priority destination of the policies of the European Union and this is reflected in its budgetary allocations for this purpose
new financing channels open and cities can access funds to consolidate or launch initiatives that underpin the development of their territories, so co-financed with European funds and contributions from local authorities, but to carry out this process are needed knowledge and tools.
This strategy should be supported by actual data, made from the bottom up, ie, from the knowledge base of a population, in areas as interrelated as economic, demographic, environmental or social, developing integrated projects in these fields.
It should also be sustainable over time, you should not miss to put patches mend a problem temporarily, but it will seek the best course of action for the solution lasts over time.
It is buscarun smart, sustainable and inclusive growth for all European territories, as urban areas face more and more complex, diverse and interrelated challenges that require an equally multiple response, in order to progress sustainably.
In developing the EDUSI it is necessary to define the needs well and move effectively in this field, for it becomes more noticeable than ever citizen participation of different social actors.
Several municipalities in our region, already have a EDUSI to qualify for European aid and develop their strategies until 2020. The planning and development of our municipality, you must have this tool, because Caravaca should point and look to the future, looking the excellence.
Being head region, with endowments as the Regional Hospital Northwest, Music Conservatory or the Open University, have the best land in agriculture cereal plants and animals from mountainous area, with an area pointer footwear exported to the rest the world its products, rural and religious tourism revolving around Vera Cruz, the city itself with its historic fabric, local folklore, these are some of the values ​​with a potential to be recognized in the EDUSI.
But there are also weaknesses, such as lack of a tourism director, or educational strategies plan with greater projection, more industries with good communications, the housing problem, parking or mobility in the historical district, getting not depopulated the districts and consequently abandon the agricultural sector ...
Hand tool proposed by Europe, the People's Party wanted to take this opportunity to keep adding.
The strategy will make us knowledgeable of the problem and the solution.
The next step should be its implementation, because we need to build that future work in this present.
