The restorer of the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain, Ana Laborde, has reviewed the status of the facade, built in declared a Historic-Artistic Monument
The City of Caravaca de la Cruz has asked the Ministry of Culture to carry out the restoration of the main facade of the Royal Basilica of the Holy and Vera Cruz, built in the architectural Caravaca Castle, declared a Historic Monument National artistic.
The result of this demand, the mayor, José Moreno and Town Planning, Enrique Fuentes, accompanied by municipal technicians received restorative conservative Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain's Ministry of Culture, Ana Laborde, who came to the town accompanied by the director general of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, in order to check the state of the front of the Basilica and assess the scope of the actions that are necessary.
In this regard, José Moreno has stated that "it is urgent to make an intervention in the baroque facade of the XVIII, that will return the original color to their characteristic red and gray marbles blue, degraded by the passage of time, and to repair the losses and damage caused mainly by changes in temperature that has been subjected to over the years. "
Ana Laborde Marqueze has served as co-director of the program of restoration of the Cathedral of Santiago and has been directly involved in the recovery of the Portico of Glory, as well as many important projects of intervention in polychromed stone.
Laborde Marqueze reviewed, helped by a lift platform, the different parts of the monumental facade to check the status of the stone, as well as prostheses and reinstatements made at different times.
He also collected samples for further analysis and study.
