The City of Caravaca de la Cruz has received from the Social Work of La Caixa a donation of 5,000 euros, which has been allocated to a program of educational support and sports aimed at children from families with low income.
The mayor, Jose Moreno, yesterday received the check from the two directors of the offices of La Caixa in Caravaca, Francisco Gabarrón and Pedro Moreno.
The mayor was pleased that "a financial institution collaborate with the City in a as important as social integration and improving education, facilitating access to classes tutoring and sports schools, some aspect that has also been possible thanks to the joint work of the departments of Social Services, Youth, Education and Sports'.
This contribution has enabled scholarships to a total of 38 children, who for two afternoons a week they attend school support from an association of volunteers and the local branch of the Red Cross.
The students, aged between 6 and 12 years, are also part of the municipal sports schools.
