2016 Budgets fix their attention on people (11/03/2016)

On 29 February, in plenary, and with the support of the municipal group United Left, they were approved the General Budget of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz for this year 2016.

These budgets, the first made by the new government team after the last municipal elections mark a new trend in the way of understanding local politics.

Despite the brutal drop in income, organizational chaos, economic, contractual and legal constraints that we have been constrained since our arrival, we managed to establish the outlines of a budget whose main objective will focus on improving the quality of life of all caravaqueños and caravaqueñas, which ultimately are the ones who live and build our city.

It is a balanced and realistic budget, with a marked social character, which we have increased the most important games for us, which are aimed at promoting employment, education, tourism, sports, culture and social services.

In the new government team have as main objective enhancing social services as a means to address the difficulties faced by the neediest families are multiple and different lines of action (have increased from 3,000 to 19,000 euros aid to people without resources and have included 31,000 euros for scholarships dining and social schools ...).

In addition, we focus resolutely employment, which has suffered a serious deterioration in recent times (increasing starting in 411%).

We believe it is time to change this trend, presenting budgets that mark the beginning of a shift to a policy of promoting employment, which must be deepened in future years.

We have increased, also, the areas of culture and tourism, key objectives of this team, to collaborate with the personal and collective enrichment of our neighbors.

In its development, we have worked implementing new policies, thinking people, in an attempt to respond to your needs, with the aim of improving your life, because it is not another utility, or the sense of a municipality to be to be committed to citizenship.

From the outset, aware that govern in minority and because we believe in a new way of governing, we set out to develop budgets agreed with all local groups, where dialogue and proposals that are committed to the well-being were protagonists in its development.

Unfortunately, only the United Left group, took this initiative seriously, contributing ideas and proposals, which were included in the draft budget.

So just they presented two amendments, which were approved by go in line with the ideas of the government team.

For their hard work, we appreciate the work of IU which focused on work by Caravaca, and although some speak of covert pact was uncovered what was his common sense.

The PP did not take it so seriously.

He did not give us the opportunity to reach agreements and, from that moment, his "constructive opposition" fell under its own weight, losing all their arguments.

If the PP was afraid that talking we reached some kind of "agreement" or "covert pact" as they call it, all he had achieved is to support a beneficial budgets for the entire population.

The PP says that we have passed the roller, but the reality, for them as well known is that its amendments were improvised and lacked rigor accounting.

Furthermore, it is in very bad taste that two of them were aimed at eliminating credit resources allocated to the construction of a plaza in honor of the mayor, Antonio García Martínez-Reina.

Regardless of political ideologies, it is unfair to change this initiative of the government team by a bridge whose funding must pay the Consortium of the Greenway and the other amendment, intended to Europan project on lands that are not yet municipal and has always was that, a project that was approved just at the stage of our beloved and remembered mayor for 16 years and left forgotten in a drawer.

Regarding citizens, it is true that we met on several occasions, and it is also true that we reject its amendments.

We understand that you are interested in more forms than the background, giving more importance to the staging in plenary, that the contents thereof, which is what really interested them.

In politics, it is very populist discuss the salary of the mayor and councilors, but they are the words that the works which push them, because twice asked if the spokesman for the group Citizens would be willing to reduce its allocation by 30%, It is proposing to the government team, and today still waiting for his answer.

However, the non-existent collaboration and lack of dialogue of some political group, as well as limited economic availability can not serve to evade our responsibility or to justify a lack of action against the problems of citizens, so that through this budget we want to comply with the firm commitment to citizenship, working to correct the serious economic imbalance afflicting our City Council, setting as main objective to correct poor tax collection system, making every effort to improve opportunities and living conditions of all our neighbors and neighbors, whose essential collaboration try to combat the effects of the economic crisis and create the highest levels of social justice, individual and collective development.

And we talk of "essential collaboration" because through the forthcoming establishment of participatory budgeting, we want to build a political project to continue to define and deepen our firm conviction that we need an active government intervention in the budgeting, resulting essential initiatives and concerns of citizens to carry them out and demonstrate, once again, it is possible to do things differently well.
