A conference will be announced among farmers species experimental farm 'Las Nogueras' (26/02/2016)

The experimental farm 'Las Nogueras', located in the caravaqueña hamlet of Los Prados, will host from May days transfer directed to farmers in the region of Northwest, in order to show the results of the tests performed, especially with regard to appropriate species and cultivation techniques to apply.

This was announced by the Director General of Agrifood Innovation of the Autonomous Community, Juana Mulero, on the visit to the farm, by the council of Agriculture and Environment in the City of Caravaca.

"The City Council support this initiative because we understand that applied research to farming is important in this disadvantaged area where climatic constraints make the profitability of crops is in many lesser occasions than elsewhere," said Enrique Fuentes who has detailed in this space "is experienced with traditional crops such as apricot or almond, looking for late varieties to avoid frost, but new species, unusual in this area, such as persimmon, kiwi, pomegranate is also investigating , walnut and truffle oaks taking advantage of forest species and mycorrhizal oak ".

Caravaqueña farm 'Las Nogueras' is one of five demonstration centers and technology transfer to the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment has in the region.

This area of ​​15.6 hectares is managed by the District Agricultural Office, and Northwest has a cooperation agreement with the Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Murcia (Fecoam) for training activities and technology transfer in fruit growing.

In the experimental plots of Las Nogueras working since 2014 with apple trees, persimmons, rowan, cherry, late apricot trees, (normal and intensive) pistachio, oak and oak for growing black truffles, pomegranate, almond, walnut and feet mothers vineyard ;

and last year introduced in intensive almond and peach trees late.

The farm has research teams working on the ground to improve the quality of production, expand calendars and more profitability.
