The City Council of Caravaca opens the Municipal Nativity Scene this Saturday and turns on the Christmas lighting in support of local commerce (03/12/2020)

| The Department of Celebrations and Culture has installed the Nativity Scene in the Society of Jesus, taking care of all the security and prevention measures marked by the COVID-19 regulation | The installation -which is expanded to 90 square meters and incorporates new figures and natural elements- will have a 360 layout that allows visitors to walk through its entire perimeter, in a single direction from two meters away The special Christmas lights will bring color and hope to the main monuments and shopping streets Formed by more than 400 figures and constructions and with an area greater than 90 square meters, the Caravaca de la Cruz City Council opens the Municipal Nativity Scene to the public this Saturday, December 5, at 7:00 p.m. The spectacular assembly - expanded this year and carried out in strict compliance with the COVID-19 prevention regulations - will remain in the old church of the Society of Jesus for a period of one month, until January 5. "We have planned a device so that security measures are fulfilled and that Caravaqueños of all ages can enjoy some of the best nativity scenes in the Region of Murcia," as reported by the Councilor for Celebrations and Culture, Juan Manuel de León. Among the novelties of this year, it is found that the Bethlehem will have a 360 layout that allows visitors to travel its entire perimeter, with a single sense of direction, so that visitors do not cross and no crowds occur.

In addition, horizontal and vertical signage has been installed, in which the capacity is indicated, interpersonal distances are marked and other rules to follow such as the mandatory use of a mask and hand disinfection at the entrance. Juan Manuel de León has pointed out that "these special Christmases, absolutely conditioned by the health circumstances of the pandemic, the City Council will reinvent itself again with a transversal programming to different councils and will make an effort thinking especially about children, so that they do not lose the illusion and the magic of these dates, but always avoiding crowds and betting on safe culture ". The nativity scene of all Caravaqueños is enriched with more than 30 new figures, a waterfall and plantations of natural species ", has detailed Juan Manuel de León, who has thanked" the dedication and dedication of the four municipal workers of the Department of Electricity ". Based on the technical studies carried out, the Society of Jesus will have a maximum capacity of 40 people, who will be able to make the circular route of the Bethlehem two meters away. The Nativity Scene of the Caravaca de la Cruz City Council is made up of figures made in the renowned Jesús Griñán workshop, along with constructions by the also prestigious artisan Isabel Tornero.

This allows to narrate the different scenes of the Nativity, complying with a centuries-old tradition of special roots in the Region of Murcia. Thanks also to the collaboration of the Department of Tourism, since access control will be carried out with personnel from the Museum Network, the Bethlehem can be visited from December 5 to January 5, from 11 a.m.

to 1:30 p.m.

and from 5:00 p.m.

to 8:30 p.m.

hours (on December 24 and 31 it will be open in the morning and on December 25 and January 1 it will be closed). On the other hand, as a measure of support for local commerce, this year the Caravaca City Council anticipates the lighting of the special Christmas lighting, which will also take place this Saturday, December 5, at 7:30 p.m. The ornamental lighting, with more than 850,000 low consumption LED bulbs, will be reinforced in some places such as Plaza del Templete and Paseo de La Corredera and will extend to the commercial streets of Gran Vía, Mayor, Rafael Tejeo, Cartagena, Juan Carlos I, Puentecilla, Plaza del Arco, Maruja Garrido and Plaza San Juan de la Cruz, among other spaces.

In later days it will light up in the streets of Archivel and Barranda and a six-meter tree in all districts.
