| The Gollarín publishing house presents the book that brings together the winning works of the 'Escuela de Mandarines' line and the Narrative Prize 'Ciudad de la Cruz' 2019 Albacara Award | The Caravaca City Council, through its Department of Culture, keeps the deadline for submitting works for the 2020 edition open until October 30 and they must be sent online through the web form at Premioalbacara.com For the announcement of this contest, with about 40 years of experience, the Consistory has the collaboration of the Discalced Carmelites, the Postres Reina Group and the Gollarín publishing house The gardens of the Caravaca de la Cruz Festival Museum have hosted the presentation of the book of the XXXVIII edition of the Albacara Prize Literary Contest, published by Editorial Gollarín, with the winning works of two of the three categories of the contest: the 'Escuela de Mandarines' and the 'Ciudad de la Cruz' Narrative Prize corresponding to the year 2019.

The book that includes the winning work of the other category, that of the 'San Juan de la Cruz' Mystical Poetry Prize was presented a few days ago, edited by the Department of Culture of the Caravaca City Council. The event was attended by the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Francisco García; the deputy director general of Human Resources of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Andrés Nortes; the editor of Gollarín, Francisco Marín and the prior of the convent of Our Lady of Carmen, Fray Pascual Gil.

The literary contest is organized by the Caravaca de la Cruz City Council, in collaboration with the Discalced Carmelite Fathers of Caravaca, the Gollarín publishing house and the Postres Reina Group. José Francisco García has indicated to the winners that "seeing your work published is a luxury and an incentive for you to continue to be encouraged to write and cultivate this hobby".

The mayor thanked "the cultural patrons that we have in Caravaca for their commitment to culture, such as the work carried out by the Gollarín publishing house." García stressed that the Discalced Carmelite Fathers, with Father Pascual at the helm, "are the alma mater of this contest." Francisco Marín has stated that "with this act we close the cycle of the XXXVIII Albacara Contest and the final phase for the presentation of works for the new edition begins, which ends on October 30 and whose awards ceremony will be held on December 12".

Marín has expressed that "the act of writing is intimate, in which you play with your thoughts and build the ideas you want to reflect with words.

Taking it out for someone to read is an act of courage and it is because he wants to recognize the participants and winners, because you are ambassadors of culture in its literary aspect.

I want to encourage you to continue writing and congratulate you because you are already part of the history of this contest ". For his part, Andrés Nortes has highlighted that "the strength of the written word and communication find their true meaning when a receiver fully discovers the message of its author and that reading and writing binomial is the one that gives full meaning to your effort of germinating writers ".

"There is no better gift or more beautiful inheritance that can be bequeathed to a human being than to teach him to read and keep in him the desire to continue doing it all his life," Nortes concluded. The prior of Carmen de Caravaca has declared that "Albacara is a commitment to young people that was born 50 years ago in the bosom of the Carmelites".

Fray Pascual Gil recalled that figures such as San Juan de la Cruz, his work and his legacy, are still in force today. The Albacara Prize contest has a youth line with a long history at the regional and national level, which since 2018 has been called 'School of Mandarins', in homage to the work of the famous Caracas writer Miguel Espinosa and to which they can choose students attending Secondary, Baccalaureate and FP modules in the Region of Murcia.

The youth awarded and edited are: Elena Jorquera, Ana Mata, Carlota María Navarro, Raquel Martínez, José Andrés Ludeña, Lucía Rodríguez, Carlos Rubio, Marta Castrejón, Carlota Roca Lozano, Mateo García, Elías Robles, María Marín, José Enrique Sánchez and Sergio Calvo. In the narrative modality, the winner of the year 2019 was Rafaela Sánchez Torres, a native of Caravaca, with her work 'La Ventana', also contained in this book. After its renewal, the Albacara Prize includes the following lines: the 'San Juan de la Cruz' International Prize for Mystical Poetry, the 'Ciudad de la Cruz' International Narrative Prize and the 'School of Mandarins' Prize, which can be attended by all Writers of legal age of any nationality.
