The mayor of Caravaca, José Francisco García, has stressed that this measure helps to preserve this artisan and cultural tradition of Caravaca and has appreciated the work of the regional government in recent years to get this support to a key sector in the local economy, which certify work of embroiderers and open professional opportunitiesThe general director of Professional Training, Sergio López Barrancos, has reported that 'Handicraft Operations of Embroidery', included in the professional textile family, allows the activity in a regulated way and the recognition of the work performed by these artisans who until now had no an educational or employment accreditationThe Caravaca City Council and the Antonio López Ruiz 'El Ñin' Association collaborate in the project and work hand in hand to find alternatives that diversify and regularize the activity and generate work for the embroidery sector for twelve monthsThe Official State Gazette (BOE) has published the Royal Decree that approves the professional qualification 'Embroidery craft operations', within the Textile, Clothing and Leather professional family, which translates into the regularization of this trade of deep tradition in Caravaca de la Cruz and the recognition of the work and experience developed by these artisans over time, which until now did not have an educational or labor accreditation.The first steps to promote this qualification started from the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia at the request of the regional embroidery sector, associated with traditional events of the Region of Murcia as popular as the celebration of the Wine Horses, candidate to be declared Heritage Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.The mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz has stressed that "this is great news for an emblematic trade that is linked to our traditions and that is also an incentive in the economy of many families in the town, which comes at a time of special difficulties in which we have to look for alternatives and ensure their future.

"José Francisco García has also stressed that this measure can contribute to preserving this handicraft, and thanked the embroiderers and the members of the Antonio López Ruiz 'El Ñin' Association for the work they have been developing, seeking projects and new lines to diversify the activity and generate permanent work twelve months a year."From the City Council we promote these projects, which take up the embroidery employment workshops that were held more than a decade ago and that will continue with the expansion of the House-Museum of the Wine Horses, a project that was born more than 5 years ago years precisely to recognize the importance of this celebration and the embroidery of our city ", added the mayor.The general director of Educational Evaluation and Professional Training in the Region of Murcia, Sergio López Barrancos, has stated that "with this professional qualification, recognition is finally offered, in the form of accreditation of professional competence, to all those who have developed their working lives in the embroidery sector and they do not have any educational or work accreditation, despite having acquired a set of fundamental knowledge, skills and attitudes in their experience as embroiderers ".López Barrancos added that "thanks to the impulse of the regional government and, after more than two years of work, the publication in the Official State Gazette of this qualification has been achieved, which makes visible a sector as traditional and important in our Region as the embroidery "The Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, along with others, such as the Valencian Community, Aragon or Galicia, has also been actively involved in the contributions of the National Institute of Qualifications (INCUAL).

In these activities, various professional associations and business organizations of the sector rooted in the Region of Murcia have also participated, with the collaboration of the Institute of Qualifications of the Region of Murcia (ICUAM)The Royal Decree, endorsed by the Ministry of Education, establishes that the professional qualification of 'Embroidery craft operations' is a first step for the design of the associated training, which will allow obtaining a level 2 certificate of professionalism within the framework of vocational training for employment.

In this way, a training itinerary can be offered to young people interested in accessing embroidery professions.

This training, especially the modules that comprise it, is also aimed at people who work in the sector in order to update and complete their knowledge.Involvement of the Caravaca City Council and the association of the town Antonio López Ruiz 'El Ñin'Among the associations that have contributed to the successful completion of this professional embroidery qualification is Antonio López Ruiz 'El Ñin', created five years ago in Caravaca de la Cruz with the intention of supporting, disseminating and promoting the sector of embroidery, ensuring the improvement of the working conditions of embroiderers and promoting activities aimed at publicizing and preserving an ancestral handicraft that is a hallmark of the city.From this association, with the full institutional support of the Caravaca City Council, especially the Department of Crafts and Employment, they have fought to achieve this professional recognition for the craft of embroidery, and are currently working on different projects whose objective is to revitalize the embroidery sector.
