Caravaca de la Cruz will improve the facilities for the prevention and fight against forest fires, thanks to an investment of more than 670,000 euros, announced by the Government of the Region of Murcia.

Specifically, from this month of June until May of next year, works will be carried out to improve the fixed Surveillance Post of 'El Nevazo', the expansion of the Center for Defense against Forest Fires and the conditioning of the facilities from La Alberquilla Forest Base. To present these projects and explain their implementation, the councilor for Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and the Environment, Antonio Luengo, has traveled to the municipality, who, together with the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Francisco García, has Visited the Forest Base of 'La Alberquilla', where the operation of the INFOMUR Plan is already active, which has the means and personnel of the regional and national administrations. In July the improvement works of the Center for Defense against Forest Fires will begin, for 242,000 euros, to condition the facilities that the Forest Brigade and the Rapid Intervention of Caravaca de la Cruz occupy, expanding the kitchen units, area of stay, changing rooms and warehouse to facilitate the conditions of the workers who provide this service. Finally, at the beginning of 2021, those of the Forest Base of the Place of 'La Alberquilla' will be launched, with a budget of more than 295,000 euros, allowing the facilities of technicians, pilots and mechanics to be adapted to the considerations of aeronautical regulations and obtaining better conditions for the crew of the helicopter of the Ministry of Agriculture, which has its base there. The Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and the Environment will assign 60 people exclusively to detection tasks this year, which, complemented by 90 environmental agents, will be the precise strategic group to detect and locate the outbreak of fire wherever it occurs within the regional territory.
