Approximately 80,000 euros have been invested in this action, which covers the streets between Vicente Aleixandre, Extremadura and the Granada highway, financed by the Government of the Region of Murcia, within the latest biennial plan for works and services The City Council will receive more than 500,000 euros from the Autonomous Community, within the new Plan of Works and Services 2020-2021, which will allow improvement investments in streets and green spaces of the urban area and districts In addition, in the Extremadura neighborhood, complementary actions have been carried out, such as the placement of benches, litter bins or improvements in lighting, which will continue with repair work for damaged pavements in pedestrian areas, and which are part of the suggestions of the first neighborhood meeting of the citizen participation project 'The skin of each neighborhood' The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has carried out a project to replace the pavement and replace the signs in the Extremadura neighborhood.

In total, the asphalting has been renovated in more than eight thousand square meters, with a total investment of approximately 80,000 euros, financed by the Government of the Region of Murcia. This action was awarded last January and has been developed in these last two weeks to cause the least possible inconvenience to the neighbors.

"It is a project that was added to the Plan of Works and Services 2018-2019 and that has not supposed an economic cost to the municipal coffers, since it has been possible thanks to the measure of the Government of the Region of Murcia that allows with the casualties in contracts may include other works until the subsidy received is exhausted, which in this case amounted to 400,000 euros, "as reported by the mayor, José Francisco García. During the visit made to the aforementioned neighborhood in Caravaque - together with councilors of Works and Urbanism, José Antonio Sánchezy, Mónica García, respectively, and the technician responsible for the area, Ramón Giménez - the mayor announced that the Caravaca City Council has been awarded a grant of more than 500,000 euros , within the new Works and Services Plan 2020-2021, for which projects are being prepared both in the urban area and in the districts.

"The investments will have as a priority objective to make a city more comfortable, accessible and cared for, with projects related to the improvement of basic public services, such as asphalt repairs, improvement of sidewalks or repair work of damaged pavements in pedestrian areas," he detailed.

. 'The Skin of each neighborhood' In addition to this important investment destined to the asphalting and renovation of the signage that was previously programmed, the departments of Public Services and Works have simultaneously carried out a series of actions proposed by the residents of the neighborhood, within the citizen participation project 'La Piel each neighborhood'. Taking as a reference the meeting in which more than a hundred residents participated, actions have been carried out, among which are the installation of new litter bins, benches, pedestrian crossings or actions to improve public lighting.

The heads of these councils explained that, although the initial planning has been disrupted by the state of alarm, maintenance improvements will continue to be made in the green and pedestrian areas. The objective of 'La Piel each neighborhood' is to work progressively in the revitalization of urban areas and districts, taking as a reference the opinion of people who live in it and who are the ones who best know the needs and, therefore, the way to use public funds.

It began in the Extremadura neighborhood, where the 'Encarna Reinón' 24-hour Study Room was also recently launched as another incentive and new characteristic element of said area. The Caravaqueño Town Hall seeks the active participation of residents in municipal management.

The objective is that the actions, which are more or less extensive, are not wasted and respond to the real needs of the neighbors.

"We are aware that the needs are many and the resources are limited enough to reach everything we would like, but that is why we must make an even greater effort to prioritize investments and get the most out of all the means available to the Local Administration "said José Francisco García.
