"This is one of the measures included in the Municipal Plan for the Reactivation of Tourism in Caravaca de la Cruz that we present today and which has been designed to support the take-off of the sector, as soon as the sanitary circumstances allow it.

The objective is that Caravaca de la Cruz is prepared with a previous work for the post-Covid-19 stage ", informed the Councilor for Tourism, José Carlos Gómez. The person in charge of Tourism recalled that "the tourism sector has been the first and the most affected by the coronavirus, so it now has to reorient itself and reinvent itself to recover the lost path.

In this sense, and although the months of absolute slowdown are going to mean great losses, Caravaca de la Cruz wants to look forward, looking for new opportunities and exploiting its many strengths.

" The objective is to differentiate and become known as a versatile and close destination, which, in addition to its status as a pilgrimage destination and being in the green lung of the Region of Murcia, has quality accommodation and infrastructure. The campaign, which consists of different phases and actions, is already advanced because, if there are no setbacks in the de-escalation, it would begin in the month of June within the Region of Murcia itself to spread, when security circumstances allow it, to other communities. The campaign, in addition to highlighting the attractions of the destination, will be accompanied by another series of concrete actions based on experiential tourism, with defined tourist packages to spend the night in the municipality and a program of activities both in museums and in sites and natural routes. Within the Municipal Plan for the Reactivation of Tourism in Caravaca de la Cruz, another series of measures have been announced, including specific training for guides, municipal staff and professionals in the sector to adapt to the new scenario; the launch of the Marketing department with defined offers and travel packages; the development of the motorhome stopover and overnight area or the Intelligent Tourism Office, with digitization of all material and resources and 24-hour service. From the Tourism area, the value enhancement project 'Historical roads of Caravaca' has also been prepared, which affects nearby and inter-urban sections to promote nature and pilgrimage tourism and which is also a resource for sport and recreation of the caravaqueños themselves. "Another initiative is the creation of a unique passport to enjoy the network of the Museum Network.

The first 300 cards will be delivered to tourist establishments so that they can offer it and give it to the first customers as an incentive with the hotel night ", explained José Carlos Gómez, who pointed out that the measures adapted to the situation caused by the COVID-19 crisis will also be integrated into the Tourism Master Plan, which will define the strategy for the next five years with a clear and defined route. Other aspects commented by the head of the municipal area of ??Tourism have been the project of renovation and unification of the tourist signage and the creation within the Archaeological Museum of the Office of the Roads as a reception center for pilgrims and an information point for all the routes and natural trails of short route (PR) of Caravaca. Aid line 'ITREM-Safe Tourism' The Councilor for Tourism has explained that, in addition to the meetings held with tourist owners of the municipality, it works in coordination with the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia, which provides advice and makes all its tools available to Caravaca. "Among the measures that have already been transferred to us, there is the" ITREM-Safe Tourism "aid line of 10 million euros to contribute to the revival of the tourism and hospitality sector," he said. This line of aid will be articulated in 0% microcredits of between 15,000 to 30,000 euros for investments in health and safety, as well as reforms in establishments that require it.

The interest and guarantee costs, the early cancellation fee as well as the study and opening fees of financial institutions are subsidized with an investment of 800,000 euros of own funds from the Region of Murcia. These grants include the possibility of a grace period and a term of 3 to 5 years.

The line will be operational at the end of the month and this will be fully realized at that time.
