The Disinfection Shock Plan has 35 operators among cleaning service workers, municipal operators and volunteer farmers (14/04/2020)

The Mayor has thanked the work of all the professionals and volunteers who during the last month have been working with total dedication and dedication to prevent the presence of COVID-19 in public spaces.

When a month has passed since the start of the Municipal Disinfection Plan activated by the COVID-19 health alert, the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Francisco García, wanted to express his gratitude to the 35 workers and volunteers who form part of it and "that with total dedication and dedication they are making an unprecedented daily effort to prevent the presence of the virus in streets and public spaces."

Accompanied by the deputy mayor, José Carlos Gómez, the councilor responsible for the Public Services area, Mónica Sánchez, and the one for Public Works and Maintenance, José Antonio García, the mayor has traveled to the headquarters of the municipal cleaning service, where were the workers of 'Urban Environment', as well as the operators of the municipal maintenance service and janitors, who are also integrated into this extraordinary plan.

José Francisco García has especially thanked the support of the nearly 20 farmers who since the beginning of this exceptional situation are collaborating with the City Council on a voluntary basis, contributing agricultural machinery as their own work.

"The City of Caravaca activated this plan immediately on March 9, anticipating the state of alarm and following the recommendations of authorities and experts. During these weeks it has been reinforced and adapted to circumstances and needs, prioritizing those areas of greatest risk for people, such as residences for the elderly and people with disabilities, Primary Care centers, the Regional Hospital or the exterior of all essential services that remain open during the state of alarm, both in the urban area and in the different districts " , José Francisco García has highlighted.

For its part, the Councilor for Public Services has taken stock of the development of this shock plan, which during the first month has used a total of 1,188 liters of disinfectant product, applied under the instructions and protocols of the Ministry of Health.

"The workers and volunteers have already carried out 27 days of disinfection, to which must be added the reinforcements of more than forty members of the Forest Brigades of the Region of Murcia, who on two occasions have traveled to our municipality with self-pumped vehicles", has reported.

Likewise, there is other specific machinery such as washing machines, tanks, backpacks and tractors equipped with atomizers.

Although the work is carried out progressively in the different neighborhoods and districts, the main objective is to act in those spaces where there is an unavoidable transit of people and, therefore, a COVID-19 presence may occur, as well as in places where there are social groups of special risk.

These spaces where the disinfection coordinated by the Caravaqueño Town Hall has a special incidence are the Health Center and Comarcal del Noroeste Hospital, the Bernal Hospital, industrial areas, the Nursing Home and the APCOM day and residence center, the Municipal Cemetery, Bus Station, as well as in the emergency services (Local Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection and Fire Station).

Disinfection measures also extend to urban furniture and elements of the public road that may be touched, such as benches, children's games, canopies, railings, screens, as well as essential activities, such as supermarkets, pharmacies or neighborhood stores, both from the urban area and the districts.

To the 35 operators of the Disinfection Shock Plan, the ordinary street cleaning and domestic waste collection service is added, which continues to be presented normally, with preventive measures such as the prohibition of using blowing machines that are not recommended in this case.
