The Caravaca City Council will hold an ordinary telematic plenary session in April to deal with the Municipal Budget (08/04/2020)

The Municipal Budget, which is one of the points that will be put on the table, has been addressed in the Board of Spokespersons prior to the Plenary, and has been adapted to the current scenario by the Department of Finance to prioritize actions that lessen the impact of the crisis in the municipality

The proposal of the Mayor's Office to change holidays from the labor calendar from Saturday 2 and Monday 4 May to Saturday 12 and Monday 14 September will be another of the plenary points, for later modification by publication in the BORM

In the session, the mayor, at his own request, will report on the municipal administration and the extraordinary measures adopted in the face of the coronavirus health emergency, with requests and questions from the opposition.

0. The mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Francisco García, has advanced that the Caravaca City Council wants to hold an ordinary plenary session this April to discuss measures that are of general interest to Caravaqueños and vital to the proper functioning of the Administration Local.

Among the points that will have a place in this telematic plenary session is the debate and approval of the Municipal Budget, to account for the municipal management derived from the Covid-19 crisis, as well as the proposal to change the local holidays in the labor calendar 2020 motivated by the alarm state situation.

José Francisco García has reported that the plenary meeting, as well as the points that will be put on the table during it, have been aspects discussed in the first Board of Spokespersons held by videoconference with representation of the three municipal political groups.

As for the debate and approval of the Municipal Budget led by the Department of Finance, the mayor stressed that it is a fundamental tool for the functioning of the City Council and for the provision of all its services.

"The accounts were prepared to take them to their debate and approval in March, but, given the exceptional circumstances, it was not possible and, in addition, they have been adapted during these weeks to be able to respond to needs arising from the new crisis scenario."

The change of festive dates in the 2020 work calendar from Saturday, May 2 and Monday, May 4 to Saturday, September 12 and Monday, September 14, is a proposal from the Mayor's Office that is motivated by obvious reasons, since workers would lose those days due to to the alarm state.

In this way, a bridge would be made, with a festive Monday, coinciding with the celebration of the Exaltation of the Blessed Virgin and Vera Cruz, in order to enhance this festivity and that it may be an incentive for the local economy.

The Plenary will be convened on an ordinary basis so that the turn of possible requests and questions that the opposition wants to ask the government team has a place.

In this sense, the caravaqueño alderman has indicated that it is a question of transparency and municipal participation.

He has also pointed out that the recent modification of the law made by the Central Government, at the request of the request made by local corporations, allows ordinary plenary sessions to be held, as long as they are limited to the urgent aspects that motivate the call in a situation exceptional state of alarm and with the appropriate precautionary or preventive measures for the members that compose it.

Suspension and postponement of municipal taxes and fees

On the other hand, the Department of Finance and Economic Planning of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz has announced the suspension of the due dates scheduled for April 5 and 20, which include direct debits, installments and payment plans of the different municipal taxes.

This is one of the extraordinary measures that the Caravaqueño City Council is activating to support residents, freelancers and companies established in the town.

In addition, the payment due of the Tax on Mechanical Traction Vehicles, better known as the car stamp, has been postponed from May 20 to June 20.

These actions are added to the review of all municipal tax settlements with the aim that the business and commercial fabric, practically paralyzed, does not have to face payments of certain taxes.
