The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has set up a solidarity account to unify aid and donations from individuals, companies and institutions that help alleviate the socio-economic effects parallel to the coronavirus health crisis.

This has been communicated by the mayor, José Francisco García, who has updated in a public appearance all the information related to the pandemic that affects the municipality, as he has been doing occasionally.

García explained that many people and companies have contacted the City Council to offer their help and in this way they can be channeled.

The solidarity account for the fight against the coronavirus is ES03 2038 3019 0164 0000 1444. In addition, individuals or companies that are making donations, assignments, or offering services should contact the phone 687 706 741.

Official mourning and flags at half mast in the municipality

On the other hand, the City Council has decreed official mourning in the municipality since today, Monday, March 30, letting the flags fly at half-staff in memory of those who died throughout Spain due to the global pandemic of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

"Having produced a large number of deaths and in recognition and remembrance of the deceased and also as a sign of affection towards their relatives and friends, we have issued a Mayor's decree that is a sign of the sympathy and solidarity of this City Council in the face of the suffering of all affected by the pandemic, "said the mayor.

Said mourning will remain in force until a new Mayor's resolution, as indicated in the text itself adopted and signed by the highest municipal councilor.

Royal Decree with new economic measures

José Francisco García has referred to the Royal Decree published by the Government of Spain with total confinement measures to deal with the coronavirus pandemic that goes through the suspension of non-essential activities.

"Paralyze industrial activity and economy as much as possible, a much-needed measure that was requested by the president of the Region of Murcia and many of the mayors a week ago," said Garcia, who has shown his support for small entrepreneurs , workers and self-employed, who these days are disoriented and concerned about this situation.

"We ask for serious economic measures to face the economic crisis that derives from the health crisis," said the mayor, "who recalled that the Caravaca City Council has implemented some measures, within the municipal powers, to help neighbors, such as the discount on occupancy rates on public roads for the hotel sector, a discount on rates for garbage or sports activities, at the same time that we will try to speed up the payment to suppliers taking into account that the income of the City Hall are decreasing. "

García added that a contingency fund will be created in charge of the municipal budget.

Situation in the municipality

José Francisco García has stated that the evolution of the pandemic in the municipality is being contained, with little incidence, for which he has wanted to thank the residents for the strict compliance with the recommendations and measures implemented gradually since the beginning of the crisis, although he has asked that the guard not be lifted.

Regarding the nursing home, the mayor has declared that "we are in permanent contact with its management, all preventive measures have been taken and so far everything is proceeding normally."

On the other hand, he recalled that the Center for Attention to Gender Violence (CAVI) continues to provide service through the telephone numbers 660034660 and 968 722222 from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00.
