In this sense, he pointed out that "the Municipal Disinfection Shock Plan, in place since last week, has received a very important reinforcement this Monday with the deployment in Caravaca of 45 members of the Forest Brigades of the Region of Murcia, equipped with 12 teams with fire engines and other means necessary to carry out the tasks safely and effectively. "

The scope of action of the environmental agents, brigadistas and technical personnel sent to Caravaca de la Cruz by the Government of the Region of Murcia, through the General Directorate of the Natural Environment, encompasses strategic points, including the Health Center and Comarcal del Noroeste Hospital, the Nursing Home, the Bernal Hospital, the Town Hall, the Cavila Industrial Estate, the Bus Station, Apcom, the courts, the exteriors of supermarkets and pharmacies, among other spaces on public roads.

Once these especially sensitive points were covered, they went to neighborhoods and green areas.

The mayor has indicated that "this outstanding intervention adds to the daily disinfection tasks carried out, both in the urban area and in the districts, by the cleaning service operators and through the human and technical means that have put our disposition altruistically local farmers. "

"The City of Caravaca, thanks to the involvement of professionals and volunteers and within its competences, continues to take measures to reinforce the basic services essential in these moments of health emergency. Street cleaning is one of special importance for the elimination of the viral load that may contain the public roads of the municipalities, "he said, while adding that the work of disinfection and cleaning will also be reinforced in other areas such as the old town or the neighborhoods Nuevo, San Vicente, Aranjuez, among others.

The 'El Llano' Hotel and 'Aixa' apartments, available to the Ministry of Health

Among the measures taken as a consequence of the health crisis derived from the expansion of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the mayor has also reported that the Hotel 'El Llano' has been placed at the disposal of the Ministry of Health, following the published order in the Official Gazette of the Murcia Region.

The facilities have already been supervised by technical and health personnel and comply with the necessary characteristics in case it is necessary to use them as a field hospital to cover the regional area, an action that is already underway.

"Furthermore, within the numerous gestures of solidarity and social commitment that Caravan society and employers are taking, the 'Aixa' apartment block has also been made available to the Ministry of Health for the accommodation of health and non-health professionals directly dedicated to managing the epidemic crisis, "reported José Francisco García.

According to the order of the regional government, the hotels may be used both for the accommodation of health and non-health professionals directly dedicated to the management of the epidemic crisis, and to be enabled as a space for healthcare provision, should the case arise that the Hospitals could not accommodate more people.

Situation of the Comarcal del Noroeste Hospital

The mayor has reported that currently there are four people admitted for coronavirus at the Comarcal del Noroeste Hospital in Caravaca de la Cruz, according to data provided by the health authorities late on Sunday, March 22.

José Francisco García has expressed that "we are totally normal in the hospital at the moment, the situation could worsen, but at the moment we are sending this message of tranquility to the population."

Likewise, it has shown its maximum concern about the lack of sanitary protection material in residences, hospitals, pharmacies, shops and other centers and places where they are necessary.

"What concerns us most is the protection of personnel who are working in health centers, pharmacies, nursing homes, cleaning, etc.. If we do not protect our first soldiers, we will hardly face this battle," he added.

In this sense, the mayor thanked the caravan industry, coordinated through the Calzia Footwear Businessmen's Association, for the donations they are making of protection material, especially masks and gowns, which are being distributed in health centers.

Industrial activity closure request

José Francisco García has asked, out of loyalty to higher administrations, the cessation of all industrial activity that is not of primary necessity.

"It is a palpable and manifest concern among the population. In Italy they have had to do it and it is about anticipating events, since the bosses are almost copying themselves. Right now the priority is the health emergency, the health of our neighbors and avoid the collapse of our health system. Then we will worry about the very serious economic crisis that we will have to deal with, "argued the mayor.

Collection of pensions for the elderly

José Francisco García explained that one of the things that also concern older people is the collection of pensions.

The mayor explained that he has contacted several banks and they recommend making use of digital channels these weeks.

In the case of not having these channels, they ask, as far as possible, that the children go to the offices to take out the pensions to avoid going out on the streets to the elderly.

When the money is withdrawn, they ask to do it in large amounts so that they do not have to go to the offices in successive times.

Likewise, the entities have reported that they are processing cards completely free of charge and have established protocols for accessing the physical offices, organizing queues on the street, keeping security distances and attending only urgent cases in person.

Voluntary service

Among the measures being taken by the City of Caravaca de la Cruz for the prevention and containment of COVID 19, a service has been set up for residents in situations of special vulnerability, such as those of advanced age or those who due to circumstances of disability or illness do not have help to carry out essential needs.

This social assistance service through volunteering is centralized and directed by municipal technicians from the Consistory and is possible thanks to the direct collaboration of local Civil Protection and Red Cross groups, whose volunteers move to homes that, for reasons justified, they are indicated in order to make basic and urgent steps.

People who need this service should contact the City of Caravaca de la Cruz by phone 687706741, from 9:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 18:30.
