Caravaca, fourth municipality in the Region of Murcia to implement a 'Family Meeting Point' (PEF) (24/02/2020)

The City Council provides it with a physical space, carrying out conditioning works in the house of the San Francisco School, a place that AMPA will also use for school reinforcement activities with the children of the neighborhood

Caravaca de la Cruz is one of the four municipalities in the Region of Murcia - together with Murcia, Cartagena, Lorca and San Javier - which will have a 'Family Meeting Point' (PEF).

This service guarantees, in adequate and safe conditions, the right of minors to interact with their parents and / or relatives in specific cases of divorce or separation with application of protective measures.

"This is a new social and welfare service, whose purpose is for parents to assume their parental responsibilities and fulfill the agreements related to the regime of communication and stay with their children, for the benefit of these", as has indicated the councilor responsible Women and Equal Opportunities in the Consistory caravaqueño, Mónica Sánchez.

The team of professionals responsible for attending and coordinating the operation of the 'Family Meeting Point' (PEF) - in coordination with the courts related to each specific case - is subsidized by the Directorate General for Women and Gender Diversity of the Community Autonomous, within the measures of the State Pact against Gender Violence.

"It is a necessary and demanded service in the Northwest Region, so City Council has worked to implement it, providing it with a physical space."

"Although the 'Family Encounter Point' has already begun to work provisionally in some municipal offices, it will be permanently located in a building adjacent to the San Francisco school, where we are carrying out conditioning works. A space that, from Monday to Friday, it will also be made available to the AMPA of San Francisco to carry out school reinforcement activities aimed at children in the neighborhood, "said mayor Monica Sanchez.

The 'Family Meeting Point' is a specialized social resource, linked to the family environment, whose purpose is to guarantee the right of children to interact with their parents (both) and / or relatives, when they do not live with them because of separation or by application of protective measures.

This resource is configured from a physical space and a team of professionals, who intend to normalize the relations between the parties allowing the contacts of children with their parents and other relatives, where appropriate, develop in a framework of security and wellness.

As Councilwoman Monica Sanchez recalled, the new service in the field of social policy adds to those that have already been launched in recent months, such as the Comprehensive Prevention and Assistance Service for Victims of Sexual Abuse and / or Sexual Assault (Cavax ) and the Legal Guidance Service (SOJ) of the Illustrious Bar Association of the Region of Murcia.

In this case, the beneficiaries are all those children who, due to circumstances related to separation / divorce proceedings or protective measures, do not live with one or both parents.

The users of the service are the parents and other relatives authorized to participate in the exchanges and / or visits.

In the PEF, cases derived by Courts of Violence against Women or Instruction in which there are indications of violence or / and restraining order or by Courts or Child Protection Service with supervised visits are attended.

It is also used in cases with progressive visits regime or those derived by courts of First Instance, with collection and delivery visits regime.
