Due to the good acceptance of this pioneering initiative in Caravaca, the Department of Environment and Animal Protection created a new group so that the largest number of interested people could attend

The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz is celebrating the first edition of the 'Canine Education and Communication' course, with theoretical and practical sessions that are taught taking advantage of the facilities of the Municipal Park of Road Education.

The good reception that this pioneer activity has had in the municipality has led the Department of Environment and Animal Protection to create a second work group so that a greater number of people can attend.

"During the classes, skills are created and aspects such as self-control, communication, obedience or socialization are worked on, key aspects to improve our relationship with the animal and have appropriate behaviors for a good care of it and a good neighborhood coexistence in urban environments, "explained the councilor who runs the area, Ana Belén Martínez.

"The different activities that have been organized from this Department are aimed at promoting responsible ownership of animals, preventing abandonment and promoting civic behavior," added the mayor.

The canine educator of the 'Agrocan' School Pablo Navarro, in charge of directing the two groups of guides and dogs that are taking the course, has made reference to the importance of "knowing the animal; its needs and its way of communicating, since in the ignorance of these aspects lies most of the problems between pets and owners, being, in addition, the main cause of abandonment ".

Within this line of work, the Department of Animal Protection and Environment held in the Classroom of Nature and in the place of Las Fuentes del Marqués the First Day of Canine Education and Responsible Keeping of Animals and, coinciding with Christmas dates, launched the citizen awareness campaign on the purchase of animals 'I am not a toy'.
