Juan Moya Puerta takes possession as chief inspector of the Local Police of Caravaca de la Cruz (17/02/2020)

The mayor said it is a step forward to improve "an essential public service", along with other measures already under way to strengthen the workforce

The objective is to strengthen the close character of the Police with citizens, increase their presence in the urban area and districts, as well as move towards a modernization of the body

Agent Juan Moya Puerta has taken possession, in commission of service, of the position of chief inspector of the Local Police of Caravaca de la Cruz.

During the event, which took place in the Plenary Hall of the Consistory, the mayor, José Francisco García, stressed that "it is a step forward to improve an essential public service."

Juan Moya has a diploma in Criminology, specialized in Security and Police Sciences, and has an extensive professional and academic curriculum.

In the last three years he has served as chief inspector of the Abarán Police and previously held the post of inspector in Calasparra.

The incorporation of the chief inspector is one of the measures promoted by the City Council of Caracas to improve the coordination and presence of the Local Police, which joins the three new agents who become part of the workforce and the eight troops that will be added through selective processes of mobility and free opposition that are already being prepared.

José Francisco García referred to the work that is carried out from the areas of Citizen and Personal Security "to fill the vacancies that have progressively reduced the workforce, something that will allow us, among other aspects, to increase the presence and surveillance in the fourteen districts. "

Other objectives include "enhancing the essence of the local Police's proximity to citizens and promoting actions for the modernization and updating of the body, improving its coordination and expanding the coverage it must provide in our extensive municipal area," he said.

The mayor thanked the "predisposition and push of Juan Moya to assume the direction of the Local Police and to be at the service of all the citizens of Caravaca de la Cruz", while congratulating Corporal Bartolomé Hoyos, who in the last year has provisionally exerted the leadership "with great professionalism and humility and always with a good gesture towards the neighbors and towards their own companions".

The councilor who directs the area of ​​Citizen Security and Traffic, José Santiago Villa, also wanted to thank the presence in the inauguration of those responsible for the Civil Guard, Fire and Civil Protection, as well as chiefs and ends of local police officers in the Region , "a gesture that expresses the coordination, communication and good harmony that marks the work of the different security services that act in the municipality and in the Northwest".

After promising the position, Juan Moya vindicated the role of local police as guarantors of the legal order and of the freedoms and rights set forth in the Constitution and made reference to the transformation that in recent times they have been experiencing towards greater professionalization.
