The Cycling Tour of the Region of Murcia, which celebrates its 40th anniversary, ends this Friday, February 14, in Caravaca de la Cruz its inaugural stage.
It will be around 4 pm when the runners begin to cross the finish line, located on the esplanade of the Castle.
"The 126 runners, belonging to 18 national and international teams, will face a tour with an exciting finish; climbing the slope of the Castle as the Wine Horses do, as a great gesture of support from the world of sport to the 2020 Intangible Cultural Heritage Candidacy of Humanity for UNESCO ", as noted by the Councilor for Sports in the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, Pepe Tudela.
In the last kilometer, the platoon will pass through Carretera de Murcia, Maruja Garrido, Gran Vía, Puentecilla, Plaza del Arco and Cuesta del Castillo.
The area reserved for official vehicles and infrastructure of La Vuelta will be located on Raimundo Rodríguez, Doctor Fleming and Ciudad Jardín streets.
The pedestrian entrance to the interior of the Castle will be open until one hour before the arrival of the cyclists and access by Aurora and Ceyt Abuceyt streets is recommended.
On the esplanade screens will be installed to follow the stage.
On the other hand, parking will be prohibited from the previous night in Gran Vía, Raimundo Rodríguez, Doctor Fleming, Ciudad Jardín and Cuesta del Castillo due to the assembly needs of the event.
The Cycling Tour of the Region of Murcia-Grand Prix Sabadell is an international test included in the World Calendar of the International Cycling Union and the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation.
In this 40th edition, the presence of the five Murcia who are part of the international squad stands out (José´ Joaquín Rojas, Rubén Fernández, Antonio Jesús Soto, Luis León Sánchez and Alejandro Valverde), who will come to win the round, as has already happened in the last three years first with Valverde, after his exhibition of 70 kilometers alone, and then with Luis León Sánchez in the last two editions.
