The objective is to set and prioritize investments and that these meet the real needs of citizens
The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has launched the project 'The skin of each neighborhood', with which it wants to know the opinion of the residents of each area of the urban area and districts to prioritize actions, determine investments and guide government action municipal.
The first of the neighborhood meetings was held in the neighborhood of Extremadura, where more than a hundred neighbors gathered, who transferred their proposals for improvement to the mayor and the councilors.
During the meeting, the municipal representatives thanked the broad response to this first call.
"The best start we could have with this initiative is the support of the neighbors, with an exemplary active attitude. Citizen participation is always good news and is a decisive help to carry out good municipal management," said the mayor , which also advanced that the next action for the improvement of this neighborhood will be the asphalting of its main streets within the investments of the Works and Services Plan.
The reduction of some sidewalks, improvements in the service of cleaning and collection of urban waste, measures related to the management of traffic, along with awareness campaigns to avoid uncivil behavior with pets, were some of the proposals that the Extremadura neighborhood residents put on the table in this first neighborhood meeting.
'The Skin of each neighborhood' is a project promoted by the Department of Citizen Participation and Open Government, with the direct involvement of the Works, Public Services and Public Safety areas.
The Consistorio caravaqueño seeks the active participation of the neighbors in the municipal management.
"The objective is that the actions carried out by the City Council respond to proposals and problems raised by the neighbors themselves, who are the ones who best know the reality and needs of their neighborhood," said the councilor Laura Sánchez Domenech.
The mayor also said that "municipal policy must also be done outside the offices, through direct communication with the caravaqueños."
"We are aware that the needs are many and our resources are limited, but that is why we must make an even greater effort to prioritize investments and make the most of all the means available to the Local Administration."
Based on the meetings held with the neighbors, the Consistory will set a series of objectives linked to each area of the urban area, which will be reflected in the municipal budget and, more in the short term, in initiatives to improve, repair and beautify the spaces public
The meetings will result in concrete actions, related to the improvement of green areas, repair of the sign, replacement or placement of new urban furniture or public services for waste collection and cleaning, among other aspects.
