0. Combining sporting, historical and solidarity values, on March 15 the second edition of the 'Assota Trail' mountain race is held, organized by the Trail Running Club 'Las goras throw al monte', with the support of the Caravaca City Council de la Cruz and the Mountain Federation of the Region of Murcia, as well as different sponsors.

The mayor of Caracas, José Francisco García - who participated in the presentation of the test on the natural stage of the medieval tower of Jorquera - thanked the involvement of the organization, formed by more than a hundred volunteers, many of them neighbors of the district of La Encarnación, as well as the owners of the farms that cross the circuits.

"This event, which brings together more than a thousand runners and walkers, is a perfect example of sports tourism, so it has all the support of the Department of Sports," he said.

José Francisco García also referred to the special route, "which crosses one of the most spectacular and privileged places of the municipality, such as the Strait Historic Site of La Encarnación, where nature and history go hand in hand thanks to important sites that reflect the presence of different civilizations from primitive man to the present. "

The test, with departure and goal in the caravaqueña district of La Encarnación, is part of the Mountain Racing League of the Region of Murcia and also, in this edition, it will be an individual regional championship, along with Lorca and Cartagena.

It is composed of two routes and three participation modalities: Hiking 22 K, Trail 32 K and Trail 22 K. The smaller categories also have a place with the different tests framed in 'Assota Kids'.

'Assota Trail', which is named after one of the Iberian towns that settled in the area, is an organized non-profit test and allocates its benefits to the leisure program adapted for children with disabilities, carried out by the Association for the Attention to Diversity 'Adinor' and the municipalities of Caravaca de la Cruz and Cehegín.
