The plenary session of the City Council corresponding to the month of January has approved, with the favorable votes of the municipal groups of the PP and C's and the negative of the Socialist Group, the collaboration agreement with the Tax Agency of the Region of Murcia, which will result in the return of the liquidation office to Caravaca after his departure four years ago.
The Councilor for Finance, José Carlos Gómez, has valued this agreement at a press conference, ensuring that "we came to make decisions and we kept our word, which will favor many neighbors and professionals, who will not have to travel to other municipalities for these efforts ".
The holder of the Treasury has stated that "the tax management in this City Council is in an unfortunate situation, being many years in which it is not invested in its improvement and it was necessary to make decisions. This measure will have a very short-term impact positive for Caravaca. "
According to José Carlos Gómez, this agreement "will substantially improve the tax collection figures in our municipality, recovering for our city the tax settlement office that was lost in the last legislature, rearming this service."
The Autonomous Community will make available to all caravaqueños an office equipped with the latest technologies.
Citizens can consult their tax matters and settle their tax obligations without having to move to other municipalities.
The direct economic impacts that the signing of this agreement will have are, according to José Carlos Gómez, that a contract of 140,000 euros will not have to be tendered for the management of the agreement with the Cadastre and the clearance of the taxpayers' register, " since there are more than 450,000 euros that are not collected annually because they are taxes from unknown owners who are not located and avoid paying their municipal fees. "
The mayor of the Treasury has also highlighted among the positive effects of this measure a stability of treasury, since with this agreement the Tax Agency will make advances on account.
"With this situation we will be able to develop a necessary payment plan that is part of this process of professionalization and promotion to the City Council," added Gomez.
The implementation of the electronic tax office, so that citizens can carry out their efforts online, without having to physically move, will be another benefit.
It will also open a new tax office that will have two to three officials of the Autonomous Community attending any management.
The agreement also includes the modernization of the processing of the fines of the Local Police, which is still done manually, with a digitalized application that will improve the management of these fines.
The Plenary also discussed the motions of the Municipal Socialist Group regarding the works of arrangement of the Santa Clara Promenade and of granting an economic subsidy to the Evangelical Association, both of which were rejected with the favorable votes of the PSOE and the opposites of PP and C's.
In addition, several requests made by PSOE councilors on various matters were answered and the punctual modification No. 84 of the PGMO Las Minas was approved, among other matters.
