In the assessment made by the spokesman of the Municipal Socialist Group, and former mayor, Pepe Moreno, for Caravaca Radio, he began by thanking the support of the people of Caravaca that enabled the PSOE to be the most voted force again, obtaining a councilor more than in the previous election date of 2015.
In the aforementioned balance, the first part was focused on the six months as mayor of our municipality during 2019 before the municipal elections.
He clarified that they were a few complicated months, since the daily work had to be shared with successive periods of electoral campaigns that limited the carrying out of certain actions and publicizing them.
This situation was exacerbated by the withdrawal of the current Secretary and the impossibility of covering it with a full-time secretary, which greatly slowed down the operation of the town hall.
Still, several challenges were brought forward.
Among the work done in 2019, and that the Citizens-Party Popular government coalition has been appropriated and done as its own, is the dissolution of the Jubile Caravaca Society, whose file was completed since December 2018 and that at the time was very questioned by C´s and PP.
Paradoxically, months later and without any change in the aforementioned file, it is carried out.
Previously, he could not present himself in full to proceed to said dissolution, because the Secretariat was not present.
"From the Socialist Government Team, and in particular the then mayor of Tourism Gloria Gómez, a commendable job was done, proof of this is that there have been no variations in the documentation necessary for the dissolution presented by the current Government Team" has highlighted the socialist leader, Pepe Moreno.
In this regard, he also commented that the city council was accused as an indictment in the Caravaca Jubilar process.
The municipal budgets were also prepared, which, except for minor variations, is the same as approved by the current government team, as recognized by its current councilor of Finance José Carlos Gómez.
In these first months the help was obtained through the "1.5% Cultural" approval for the rehabilitation of the facade of the basilica on the one hand and the repair of the roofs of the basilica on the other, with a total amount of approximately 700,000 Euros

He also recalled the adequacy of the festival grounds, so censored since the opposition by the PP, and that has served to gain peace of mind for the neighbors, security and greater enjoyment during our management holidays.
Regarding the candidacy of the Wine Horses, he commented on the various trips to the Ministry of Culture where they were received on one occasion by Adriana Moscoso, Director General of Cultural Industries and on another by the Minister of Culture and Sports José Guirao Cabrera, who promised to visit the city, as it did, giving its support from the Wine Horses Museum.
During this time the file has been reviewed twice, providing documentation, changing another and including new photographs, as well as a new video.
This fact was also promoted from the own stand that was held at the International Tourism Fair during all these past years.
In collaboration with the Camino de la Cruz Foundation, which he thanked for his effort, and in coordination with the previous brotherhood of Vera Cruz, it has been encouraged that this foundation rehabilitate the perimeter of the Church of El Salvador, as well as the facade of the Convent of the Claras.
He highlighted the personal involvement, with numerous meetings held both in Caravaca and, above all, in Madrid, with the owner of the House where San Juan de la Cruz lived, having made great progress in the project of transfer and rehabilitation of it.
In this regard, he recalled the work done for the promotion of our great mystics, Santa Teresa de Jesús as San Juna de la Cruz, with the cycle of Teresian concerts and conferences on San Juan de la Cruz every year in the months of October and of December.
He also highlighted the significant relaunch of the Albacara awards that have achieved an international dimension with the San Juan de la Cruz mystical poetry prize.
At this time he thanked the former Councilor for Culture Oscar Martínez for his involvement as well as the Carmelite Fathers, Ms. María del Carmen Giménez, Queen Desserts and Gollarin Editorial.
In relation to urban planning, he regretted that the current corporation does not continue with the project to revise the much needed Urban Plan and, on the other hand, was glad to grant the ARRU for urban rehabilitation, whose project was drafted and presented during his term.
He also congratulated himself on remembering the construction of the new classroom of the Navares school, which, although being the responsibility of the Ministry of Education, did not hesitate to address the repeated forgetting of it.
The study workshops, both in districts and in Caravaca, as well as the great exhibition of Santiago Ydañez, curated by Nacho Ruiz, occupied a part of his intervention.
Returning to the economic analysis, he regretted that, even if reflected in budgets, this corporation has not carried out the sports court at the Virgen de la Candelaria school in Barranda, as agreed, as well as the classroom for children with needs specials at the school in El Salvador and wondered what that money was for.
He also recalled the intense work that has been done in favor of the municipality of Caravaca since June as the main political group of the city council, with more than 12 motions and almost 30 requests aimed at improving cleanliness, education, urban planning, etc.
and ultimately the quality of life of our neighbors.
He also censored the lack of political project of the Government of Citizens - Popular Party for the future of our municipality and ended up taking the opportunity to wish a Happy Year 2020 to all citizens of Caravaca de la Cruz.
