Following the publication made from an unofficial Facebook page, which uses the name and flag of Caravaca de la Cruz to impersonate the Institution for hidden partisan purposes, the City Hall wants to clarify and deny the following points referred to the shield of the city:
This publication says "the new government team decides to change the historic shield of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz."
This statement is radically false and malicious, using a biased internal report.
In the last plenary session, the procedure for registering municipal symbols (shield and flag) in the Public Registry of Local Entities of the Autonomous Community has been approved.
Today, being so old, they are not officially registered, being one of the few municipalities in the Region in this situation.
The City Council has not made any modification of the shield.
The head of the Department of Culture has prepared a report with its historical justification and it is the description of the shield and not the image that is recorded.
This description is based on the oldest news about the Caravaca shield, issued by the Council in 1285, and the first known image, dating from 1531.
The current shield, which the aforementioned publication describes as "historical", is really an adaptation of the 1990s, without too much heraldic criteria, of the several that have existed throughout history.
The official report states that the shield contains the same elements that have been used with almost no variation for 700 years: Cruz de Caravaca, cow and crown.
