More than 60,000 people have gone through VI Caravaca to enjoy the Medieval Market (09/12/2009)

The associations of restaurateurs and artisans have valued positively the results obtained during the Market

More than 60,000 people have participated in the sixth edition of the Medieval Market of Caravaca de la Cruz, according to data provided by the local police.

The biggest influx was recorded last Sunday, December 6, when gathered in the streets where the market was located about 20,000 people and the Plaza de Toros completed its full capacity with a history during the celebration of Medieval Tournament.

This edition of the Medieval Market has broken the record of visitors, far exceeding the figure of 30,000 visitors last year.

In number of artisans has also increased considerably over previous years with the presence of 220 artisans coming from different parts of Spain and various countries.

In the customer service departments of the Municipal Bureau of Tourism have requested information, a total of 1,400 people, of which 716 were domestic tourists, 602 Murcia and 82 from abroad.

According to the Councillor for Tourism, Gonzalo López-Auguy, the data of visits and participation of artisans have been bound at Caravaca Medieval Market as one of the highlights of Spain and as the most heavily attended event hosted by the city after the Feast of the Cruz.

For his part, President of the Association of Artisans, Angel Miñano, has highlighted the large number of artisans and traders who are involved in the Medieval Market, turning the city into a tourist attraction and a cultural display of all continents.

Innkeepers Association of Caravaca also assessed positively the development of the Medieval Market and second Segureño Gastronomic Cordero held in 14 bars and restaurants in the city.

"Every day we have almost completed the various local places, so we value in a very positive initiatives like this that help to improve our performance in these times of crisis," said the president of the Innkeepers, Jesús Giménez.

Local police reported that since last Saturday until Tuesday, has been running a traffic control device and consists of 15 public safety officers.
