The mayor of Caravaca, Domingo Aranda, and its namesake in Alguazas, José Antonio Fernández, have signed a collaboration agreement to promote next year's Jubilee Year 2010 and the pilgrimage routes.
The main objective of this agreement is to improve, enhance and disseminate the Jubilee Year 2010 in Caravaca de la Cruz and unite the region of Murcia at the conclusion of an event as important as this.
Since Alguazas is one of the municipalities included in the pilgrimage route, the agreement envisages that the town is known more throughout the region.
In addition to promoting the Holy Year, also is working "in an upgrading project of the Northwest Greenway, connecting Murcia to Caravaca de la Cruz and passing through Alguazas" recalled the mayor Alguazas, who also added that " are working on building a shelter, which will be completed by the end of 2010, "which will encourage tourism in those who use the greenway.
Among the initiatives included in this agreement is the exchange between the two municipalities, as it is intended that the city school visit Alguazas Northwest, as well as local students attend the town caravaqueña.
Caravaca City Council has already signed this agreement the cities of Cartagena, Granja de Rocamora, Ulea and Abanilla.
